This IS the fun part!

A couple in my class recently adopted a gorgeous four month old weimaraner puppy. Now if you know anything about 'weimy's' you know they are very high energy, very active, very intelligent dogs.

You have to keep one step ahead of them and right now, puppy is driving them insane. I could see the teeth gritting and the jaw clenching as they talked about his behavior.
Now, his puppy antics are just the run of the mill, normal puppy things - chewing, jumping, nipping, barking, running around like he's CRAZED - and while it surely can get irritating, they had lost all sense of humor and all sense of perspective. "This too shall pass."
A very good sense of humor, and a very well honed bucket of patience is needed to deal with our high energy, active dogs. Well, actually those are good to have with all of them. And, also, a sense of perspective.
Why did they get the dog? For the same reason most of us do. For companionship, for entertainment, for unconditional love and for the joy and peace they bring to our lives.
Sometimes, though, looking for the peace, past the 'He ATE MY WALL!!!!!!!' can be a challenge.
So - another one of my dog training sayings? "What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger."
